Tradovate to TopstepX trade copier
CopyFlock copies futures trades from a Tradovate lead account to TopstepX follower accounts in real time. Every entry, exit, stop and target that fills on the lead is sent to each TopstepX follower with the sizing, symbol and protection rules you set for it.

How copying from Tradovate to TopstepX works
If you trade a personal or prop account on Tradovate and also work through Topstep Trading Combines, copying puts the same trades on TopstepX without opening it. Each Topstep account follows at the size its own limits allow.
The Tradovate lead
The Tradovate lead connects through Tradovate's OAuth sign-in. Trade it from the Tradovate web, desktop or mobile app, from TradingView or from any tool that routes orders to the account — CopyFlock copies what fills on the account, so the front end does not matter.
The TopstepX followers
TopstepX followers connect through the ProjectX API as well. API access is a separate ProjectX subscription for the TopstepX login — CopyFlock cannot place orders on TopstepX without it — and Topstep's own rules on copy trading and position limits apply to every Topstep account.

How to copy trades from Tradovate to TopstepX
Step 1: Start a free trial
Create a CopyFlock account and start the 7-day free trial on 2 accounts — one Tradovate lead and one TopstepX follower. A card is required; cancel during the trial and you pay nothing.
Step 2: Connect the Tradovate lead
Choose Add account → Tradovate and sign in on Tradovate's page with the login that owns the lead account. CopyFlock never sees your password.
Step 3: Connect the TopstepX followers
Activate ProjectX API access for the TopstepX login that holds the followers, then choose Add account → TopstepX and enter the username and API key.
Step 4: Create the copy
Pick the Tradovate account as the lead and the TopstepX accounts as followers. Choose a sizing mode for each follower: contract multiplier 1 for the same size, equity ratio for accounts of different sizes, or fixed contracts.
Step 5: Add caps and protection
Set a maximum contract cap and balance or equity thresholds that fit each TopstepX account's rules. Reaching a threshold flattens and pauses that follower.
Step 6: Test with one contract
Place a one-contract trade on the Tradovate lead and confirm each follower's order in the copy log. During the trial, followers copy a fixed 1 contract.
Sizing example: Tradovate lead, TopstepX followers
- Topstep 50K Combine — fixed contracts 3
- Always 3 MNQ
- Topstep 100K Combine — contract multiplier 2
- 6 × 2 = 12 MNQ
- Topstep 150K Combine — equity ratio, max 15
- 150,000 ÷ 30,000 × 6 = 30, capped at 15 MNQ
A small lead and large followers make equity ratio sizes jump quickly. A maximum contract cap on each Topstep follower keeps it inside its position limit.
Things to know before copying Tradovate to TopstepX
- Followers fill after the lead. Each follower order is sent once the lead's fill is reported, so follower prices can differ slightly, especially with market orders in fast markets.
- Manual changes stay manual. If you close a follower by hand, it stays closed and joins in again with the lead's next trade.
- Symbols copy as they are. A TopstepX follower trades the lead's contract unless you add a symbol alias, for example NQ to MNQ.
- Futures only. CQG, Quantower and Volumetrica connections are not supported.
- Prop firm rules come first. Check that every firm involved allows copying between your own accounts — see prop firm copy trading rules.

Can I copy trades from Tradovate to TopstepX in real time?
Yes. CopyFlock sends each TopstepX follower its order as soon as the Tradovate lead's fill is reported. Followers fill a moment later than the lead and may get a slightly different price.
Does Tradovate need to stay open for trades to copy?
No. CopyFlock connects to the Tradovate account from the cloud. Open Tradovate or TradingView only when you want to place trades on the lead.
Do I need ProjectX API access if TopstepX is only a follower?
Yes. CopyFlock places follower orders on TopstepX through the ProjectX API, so the TopstepX login needs an active API subscription and an API key.
Can I copy from TopstepX to Tradovate as well?
Yes. Copying works in any direction between Tradovate, NinjaTrader accounts, Rithmic and TopstepX. See the TopstepX to Tradovate trade copier page.
