NinjaTrader trade copier that runs in the cloud

Most NinjaTrader trade copiers are NinjaTrader 8 add-ons: they only copy while NT8 is open on your PC or VPS. CopyFlock works differently. It connects to the account behind NinjaTrader — Tradovate for NinjaTrader brokerage accounts, Rithmic for prop firm accounts that use a Rithmic login — and copies every fill from your lead account to your followers from our servers.

You keep charting and placing orders in NinjaTrader exactly as you do today. Nothing is installed inside NT8, there is no strategy to enable, and copying keeps going if NinjaTrader crashes, updates or is closed.

  • No NT8 add-on, no strategy, no VPS
  • NinjaTrader brokerage accounts via the Tradovate connection
  • NT8 prop accounts on Rithmic via the Rithmic connection
  • Copy across Tradovate, Rithmic and TopstepX

How a cloud NinjaTrader trade copier works

NinjaTrader is a front end: the orders you place in it are executed on an account held somewhere else. A NinjaTrader brokerage account runs on the same infrastructure as Tradovate. A prop firm account you trade in NT8 is usually a Rithmic account that NinjaTrader connects to. CopyFlock connects to those accounts directly, so it sees every fill no matter whether you clicked in NinjaTrader, R|Trader Pro or a mobile app.

When the lead account fills, CopyFlock sends the matching order to each follower according to that follower's sizing mode, symbol aliases and caps. Stops and targets are copied too if you turn on copy TP/SL. Because nothing runs inside NinjaTrader, your charts, indicators and ATM strategies are unaffected.

Why not an NT8 add-on?

Add-on copiers can work well, but they depend on one NinjaTrader instance staying connected on one machine. If Windows restarts for an update, the internet drops or NT8 freezes, copying stops. A cloud copier removes that single point of failure. If you are comparing options, our Replikanto alternative page sets out the differences honestly.

Which connection should your NinjaTrader account use?

Connect the account where it actually lives. The table below covers the common cases.

How to connect NinjaTrader accounts to CopyFlock
Your accountConnect in CopyFlock asWhat you need

Set up copying for NinjaTrader accounts

  1. Step 1: Start a free trial

Create your CopyFlock account and start the 7-day free trial on 2 accounts. A card is required; cancel before the trial ends and you pay nothing.

  2. Step 2: Connect the lead

Add the account you trade in NinjaTrader as the lead, using the connection from the table above. Tradovate accounts sign in through OAuth; Rithmic accounts use username, password and system.

  3. Step 3: Connect followers

Add every account that should follow. Followers do not have to be on the same platform as the lead.

  4. Step 4: Choose sizing per follower

Use a contract multiplier of 1 for same-size prop accounts, equity-to-equity for different sizes, or fixed contracts if a follower should always trade the same quantity.

  5. Step 5: Keep trading in NinjaTrader

Turn the followers on and trade the lead in NT8 as usual. Check the dashboard and copy log after your first trade.

Features NinjaTrader traders use most

  • Symbol aliases with per-symbol multipliers — trade ES on the lead and copy MES ×10 to a follower, or NQ to MNQ. There is no automatic mini-to-micro conversion; you set the alias once and it applies to every trade.
  • Copy TP/SL — stops and targets from your ATM strategy brackets are copied as orders on followers.
  • Block trades without TP/SL — protect followers from entries you forgot to bracket.
  • Min/max and per-symbol contract caps — keep each follower within its firm's contract limits.
  • Account protection — set balance or equity thresholds; reaching one flattens and pauses the follower.
  • Position resync — re-align a follower after a manual intervention.
  • Whitelist and blacklist — copy only the symbols you choose.
  • Live dashboard and copy logs — balance, equity and P&L per account, plus a record of every copied order.

Sizing example: ES on the lead, MES on smaller followers

Many NinjaTrader traders run a larger account on minis and want smaller accounts on micros. One MES is one tenth of an ES contract, so an alias with a ×10 multiplier keeps the same exposure, and a ×1 multiplier gives one tenth of it.

Lead buys 2 ES in NinjaTrader
Follower 1 — same size, contract multiplier 1
Buys 2 ES
Follower 2 — alias ES→MES ×10
2 × 10 = 20 MES (same dollar exposure as 2 ES)
Follower 3 — alias ES→MES ×1
2 × 1 = 2 MES (one tenth of the exposure)
Follower 4 — fixed contracts 1, alias ES→MES
Always 1 MES, whatever the lead's size

Add a maximum contract cap on each follower as a safety net in case you size up on the lead.

Limitations to know

  • CopyFlock does not connect to NinjaTrader itself. It connects to the Tradovate or Rithmic account behind it. Simulated NT8 accounts (Sim101 and playback) cannot be copied.
  • Other connections are not supported. NinjaTrader connections through CQG and other data or order-routing providers are not supported, and neither are Quantower or Volumetrica.
  • Follower fills are independent. Each follower order is sent after the lead fills, so prices can differ slightly from the lead's.
  • ATM strategies stay in NinjaTrader. Copied stops and targets are plain orders on the follower, not an ATM strategy. Watch the copy log on your first trades to confirm followers handle your bracket style the way you expect.
  • Check your firm's rules. Most firms publish their position on trade copiers; read them before copying. Our guide to prop firm copy trading rules lists what to look for.

Frequently asked questions

Still have questions? Read the full FAQ or email support.

Is CopyFlock a NinjaTrader 8 add-on?

No. Nothing is installed in NinjaTrader. CopyFlock connects to the Tradovate or Rithmic account behind your NinjaTrader connection and copies from the cloud.

Does NinjaTrader need to be running for trades to copy?

No. Copying happens on our servers. NinjaTrader only needs to be open when you want to place trades on the lead from it.

How do I connect a NinjaTrader brokerage account?

Add it as a Tradovate account. NinjaTrader brokerage accounts run on the same infrastructure, so you sign in on Tradovate's page and approve access.

My prop firm account uses Rithmic in NT8. What do I enter?

Add it as a Rithmic account with the same username, password and system name you use in NinjaTrader's Rithmic connection. See the Rithmic trade copier page for details.

Can I copy my NT8 sim account to live accounts?

No. NinjaTrader's local simulation accounts are not visible outside NinjaTrader, so they cannot be used as a lead. Use a funded, evaluation or brokerage account as the lead.

Can I copy NinjaTrader to TopstepX?

Yes. A lead on Tradovate or Rithmic can copy to TopstepX followers, and the other way round. Copying is futures to futures in any direction.
