How to copy trades across multiple Apex accounts

Holding several Apex Trader Funding accounts is common; trading each of them by hand is not much fun. This guide walks through copying one Apex account to all your others with CopyFlock — from checking the rules and connecting accounts, to choosing sizes, setting protection and fixing the problems people run into in the first week.

It assumes you already have your Apex accounts and know which platform each one is on. Setting everything up takes about fifteen minutes.

Before you start

Five minutes of preparation saves most of the problems later. Work through this list first:

  1. Read Apex's current rules on trade copiers, the number of accounts you may hold and trading across accounts. Rules change, and they always take priority over anything a tool lets you do. Our overview of prop firm copy trading rules lists what to look for.
  2. List every account with its size, platform and — for Rithmic accounts — its login details. Apex accounts on Rithmic use the Apex system; Apex accounts on Tradovate sign in through Tradovate.
  3. Decide which account leads. Pick the one you actually want to trade by hand. Many traders lead from their furthest-along account so the newer ones follow a proven plan.
  4. Note each account's drawdown level and contract limit. You will use these numbers for caps and protection.

Step 1: Connect your Apex accounts

Create your CopyFlock account and start the 7-day free trial. The trial covers 2 accounts, enough for the lead and one follower, so you can test the full flow before adding the rest. A card is required, and you are not charged if you cancel during the trial.

Apex accounts on Rithmic

Choose Add account → Rithmic. Enter the Rithmic username and password Apex sent you and pick Apex from the system list. These are the same details you use in R|Trader Pro or in NinjaTrader's Rithmic connection. You can keep R|Trader Pro open while CopyFlock is connected. If several accounts share one Rithmic login, CopyFlock uses one connection for that login and shares it across all the copies that use it.

Apex accounts on Tradovate

Choose Add account → Tradovate. You are sent to Tradovate's sign-in page; sign in and approve access. CopyFlock receives an access token and never sees your password. More detail is on the Tradovate trade copier page.

Rithmic and Tradovate accounts can be mixed freely. A Rithmic lead can copy to Tradovate followers and vice versa.

Step 2: Create the copy and choose sizes

Select the lead account, then add each follower. Every follower gets its own sizing mode. Pick the one that matches how your accounts relate to each other:

Which sizing mode to use for Apex followers
SituationSizing modeExample
All accounts the same sizeContract multiplier 1Lead 2 NQ → follower 2 NQ
Follower is half the lead's sizeContract multiplier 0.5Lead 2 NQ → follower 1 NQ
Accounts of mixed sizes that change over timeEquity-to-equityLead $100K, follower $50K: lead 4 MNQ → follower 2 MNQ
Follower should always trade the same quantityFixed contractsAlways 1 NQ, whatever the lead trades
You size by dollars at riskFixed risk $ or fixed risk %Contracts worked out from the lead's stop distance

Every mode rounds to whole contracts. If the lead trades 1 contract and a follower's multiplier is 0.5, the result has to round to 0 or 1, which is rarely what you want. For small trades use fixed contracts or set a minimum contract cap of 1.

Putting some accounts on micros

If you trade NQ on the lead but want a follower on MNQ, add a symbol alias NQ→MNQ on that follower with a multiplier. ×10 gives the same exposure as the lead; ×5 gives half. CopyFlock does not convert minis to micros automatically — the alias is how you tell it to. The NQ to MNQ guide covers aliases in detail.

Step 3: Add caps and account protection

Caps and protection are what make copying safe across many accounts.

  • Maximum contracts per follower — set it to the account's contract limit so a large lead trade never oversizes a follower.
  • Per-symbol caps — if you trade both NQ and MNQ, cap each separately.
  • Equity minimum — when the follower's equity falls to this level, CopyFlock flattens it and pauses copying to it. Set it a little above the account's drawdown level to leave a buffer.
  • Equity maximum (optional) — flattens and pauses the follower once it reaches a level you choose, such as the evaluation's profit target.
  • Copy TP/SL — copies your stop and target to followers so they are protected even between copies.
  • Block trades without TP/SL — refuses to copy an entry that has no stop, useful if you sometimes forget a bracket.

Step 4: Run a test trade

During market hours, place the smallest possible trade on the lead — one micro if you can — and close it a minute later. Then check:

  • The copy log shows an entry and an exit for every follower.
  • Each follower's size matches what you expected from its sizing mode, alias and caps.
  • Stops and targets appear on followers if copy TP/SL is on.
  • Every follower is flat again afterwards.

Once the test looks right, add the rest of your followers and trade normally.

Troubleshooting the first week

A follower did not copy a trade

  • It may be paused, either by you or by account protection after a threshold was hit.
  • The symbol may be excluded by the follower's whitelist or blacklist.
  • Block trades without TP/SL may have stopped an entry that had no stop attached.
  • The account may need its connection refreshed — for example after a Rithmic password change or a Tradovate sign-out.

A follower traded the wrong size

Check the sizing mode, the multiplier, any symbol alias and the min/max caps — in that order. Rounding to whole contracts explains most small differences. Equity-to-equity sizes also change as balances move.

A follower is out of sync with the lead

This usually happens after a manual change on the follower. Use position resync to bring it back in line with the lead, or close all to flatten everything and start fresh with the next trade.

What it costs

CopyFlock charges per connected account, lead included: $8 per account per month, or $80 per account per year. A lead plus five Apex followers is six accounts, $48 a month. See pricing for a calculator, or the Apex trade copier page for an overview.
