Topstep trade copier for Trading Combines and funded accounts
If you hold more than one Topstep account, CopyFlock lets you trade one and copy it to the others. Your Trading Combines and Express Funded Accounts on TopstepX follow the lead account's fills from the cloud, each with its own size, caps and equity thresholds.
CopyFlock connects to Topstep through TopstepX and the ProjectX API, so there is nothing to install and no VPS to run. Followers can also sit at other firms on Tradovate or Rithmic, if you trade more than one prop firm.
- Trading Combines and Express Funded Accounts on TopstepX
- Per-account maximum position caps
- Equity thresholds that flatten and pause a follower

How the Topstep trade copier works
Topstep accounts are traded on TopstepX. CopyFlock connects to each of your TopstepX accounts with your username and a ProjectX API key, then watches the account you choose as the lead. When the lead fills, CopyFlock sends the matching order to each follower according to that follower's settings.
Traders use it in a few ways: copying a funded account into fresh Trading Combines so the new accounts trade the same plan; running two or three Combines side by side; or copying a Topstep lead into accounts at other firms. The technical side of the connection is explained on the TopstepX trade copier page.
Setting up copying between Topstep accounts
Step 1: Enable API access
Subscribe to ProjectX API access for your TopstepX login and generate an API key. This subscription is billed by ProjectX, separately from Topstep and CopyFlock.
Step 2: Start your CopyFlock trial
Sign up and start the 7-day free trial on 2 accounts. A card is required; cancel during the trial and you are not charged.
Step 3: Connect your TopstepX accounts
Choose Add account → TopstepX and enter your TopstepX username and API key.
Step 4: Choose a lead and followers
Pick the account you trade by hand as the lead. Add your other Topstep accounts — and any accounts at other firms — as followers.
Step 5: Match each account's limits
Set a maximum contract cap on each follower equal to the maximum position size Topstep allows for that account, and per-symbol caps if you trade both minis and micros.
Step 6: Add equity thresholds and start
Set a balance or equity minimum with a buffer above each account's loss limit, then place a small test trade on the lead.
Common Topstep copy setups
A funded account leading new Combines
You already passed a Trading Combine and trade an Express Funded Account carefully. Copying it into new Combines lets the new accounts follow the same plan without extra screen time. Give the Combines their own equity thresholds so a drawdown on a new account cannot creep past its limit.
Several Combines side by side
Some traders run two or three Combines at once and lead from one of them. Use a contract multiplier of 1 if they are the same size, and turn on copy TP/SL so every account carries the lead's stop and target.
Topstep plus another firm
If you also trade at a firm on Rithmic or Tradovate, add those accounts as followers of the same lead. Each firm's rules still apply to its own accounts, so set caps and protection per account rather than copying one set of numbers everywhere.
Sizing example: funded lead copied to new Combines
Say you trade a 50K Express Funded Account and want two new Trading Combines to follow it — a 50K and a 150K.
- 50K Trading Combine — contract multiplier 1
- 2 MES
- 150K Trading Combine — contract multiplier 3
- 2 × 3 = 6 MES
- 150K Trading Combine — equity-to-equity instead
- About 3× the lead's equity, so roughly 6 MES, adjusting as balances change
Contract multiplier gives predictable sizes; equity-to-equity adapts as accounts grow or shrink. Either way, add a maximum contract cap that matches the account's position limit, because Topstep's limits apply to each account individually.
Settings that help on Topstep accounts
- Account protection — flatten and pause a follower when its balance or equity crosses a level you set. CopyFlock has no separate daily loss limit setting; use these thresholds as your own stop.
- Maximum and per-symbol contract caps — keep each account inside its position limit.
- Copy TP/SL — stops and targets are copied, not just entries.
- Block trades without TP/SL — refuse to copy an entry that has no protective stop.
- Symbol aliases — copy NQ as MNQ, or ES as MES, with per-symbol multipliers.
- Position resync and close all — fix a follower quickly after a manual change or at the end of the session.
- Live P&L and copy logs for every account.
Topstep rules and limitations
Topstep sets its own rules for Combines and funded accounts, including how many accounts you can hold, position limits, loss limits and conduct across accounts. These rules change, and CopyFlock does not enforce them for you.
- Read Topstep's current rules on trade copiers and multiple accounts in its help center before copying. CopyFlock is not affiliated with or endorsed by Topstep.
- Do not hedge across accounts. Using reverse trades so one Topstep account is long while another is short may break the rules. Leave reverse trades off for Topstep followers unless you have confirmed it is allowed.
- ProjectX API access is required for every TopstepX login you connect.
- Copies are independent orders, so follower fill prices can differ slightly from the lead's.

Frequently asked questions
Still have questions? Read the full FAQ or email support.
Can I copy trades between my Topstep accounts?
Yes, technically: connect each TopstepX account and choose one as the lead. Whether it fits Topstep's rules for your account type is set by Topstep, so check its current rules first.
What do I need to connect a Topstep account?
Your TopstepX username and a ProjectX API key, which requires an active ProjectX API subscription.
Can I copy a Topstep account to Apex or Tradeify?
Yes. Followers can be on Tradovate or Rithmic, so a Topstep lead can copy to accounts at other firms.
Does CopyFlock enforce Topstep's daily loss limit?
No. CopyFlock has no daily loss limit feature. Use account protection thresholds on balance or equity to flatten and pause a follower at a level you choose, and follow Topstep's own limits.
Can followers be different account sizes?
Yes. Use contract multipliers or equity-to-equity sizing so each follower trades an appropriate size, and set a maximum contract cap per account.
